MC May/14 - Thank You

Someone mentioned at my last quilling session that they weren't getting good results with the Spellbinders embossing stencils - those thin metal ones from a few years back... I said they work great with the right type of paper and a bit of water misted on. It was ages ago since I played with them, so I thought I'd better play with them again to refresh my memory banks. BIG GRIN. I was pleased with the results.

I used both 65# & 110# Staples brand cardstock as well as Canson 90# CP watercolor paper. All of them worked beautifully. I did use several shims in my sandwhich to get good pressure along with the tan mat.

The sandwich I used for this card on my Sizzix Pro machine were: white opaque plate, B plate, Spellbinders original magnetic sheet, embossing stencil, watercolor paper, tan mat, 4 shims (graffix .007 thk ea), B plate. paper misted with water, then run through the machine backwards and forwards 2 or 3 times.

I left the paper on the stencil and hit the high points with a Distress pad "Old Paper" , then with "Spun Sugar". Trimmed it down and hit the edges of the paper with "Gathered Twigs".

Side folded my white card 4.25"w x 5.5"h. Sponged Distress "Picked Raspberry" around the edges.

Adhered a plum toned narrow ribbon around my embossed piece, then adhered it to the card. Wrapped the plum and a pale pink narrow ribbon together around my hand several times to create the loops, then tied it in the center. Adhered to card with hot glue.

I was playing with various types of material in the morning - die cutting them and creating fabric flowers. This was one of them also adhered with the glue gun.

eCut the word "Thank You" (Quietfire Design) from cream toned cardstock and while on the mat, direct to paper with "Seedless Preserves", then removed it from the mat and applied Versamark all over and clear embossed. Adhered to card.

Stamped the word "Thanks" (Quietfire Design) with Versafine "Vintage Sepia" and hit here and there with "Black Onyx" on drafting vellum, clear embossed and trimmed close. Edged it witha  Kyrlon gold leafing pen. Adhered over the eCut word.
