Origami Book - Artwork Jan - Mar, 2026

  

Another Origami book, this time holding artwork done in Jan, Feb & Mar this year. 

Created with Bogus Recycled Rough Sketch paper 70# 18" x 24" pad. Used 1 sheet per booklet page and 1 sheet for the links

I stopped at 6pages including the covers,, otherwise it would have become too unwieldy...

I like the results. 

 

Understanding - Bubble Stamp Booklet

4.25"w x 5"h x 1/4" thk.
I had these rubber stamped pages from a long time ago... I had used one of my extra large stamps and embossed with various colors of embossing powder (gold, copper, silver, black), then colored in some of the bubbles using Prisma Colored pencils primarily and one with some w/c.

I wrote synonyms of the word "understanding" on 1"h white cardstock with the arrow shape at the tip. Adhered to each page (one below the other on subsequent pages). Bound the booklet using an accordion glued spine.

I added “do you UNDERSTAND” on the last page…

Doodled - Scarborough Fair

I was at my Guild's play day and this song was going thru my head... don't ask why... I have no idea.
On Genoa Bond calligraphy paper wrote out the text with a ZIG Writer, then colored areas with Prisma colored pencils (905, 918, 921, 995, 1003, 1003, 4800).
Was looking at it and then drew the border around it with the bullet tip. Looking at it some more added the border design with a Juice Up pen and the colored pencils.
And that's how most of my work evolves...

Heart Accordion - Floral Advice

I seem to have forgotten to upload this structure...

I folded a piece of 5"h x 13"w Genoa Bond Calligraphy paper accordion style. Cut into it for the heart shapes, as well as cutting to create the square shapes. Colored the petals in the hearts with Prisma colored pencils.

Text written on separate pieces of paper (speckled gray toned stationary paper) and adhered to the structure (it hid the fold lines). Added the title to the cover

A of F - Accordion - Cut Out - Spring Has Sprung

Our AofF for April is anything to do with Spring... That seemed like too open a theme. I have a tendency to like parameters... but I knew I wanted large letters to doodle in... and within very little time this was finished without really thinking... originally I thought I would color the florals but decided to leave it alone.

I used basic Canson Mixed Media 12 x 12 white 98# paper, pencil marked my 1.75" sections for my letters, scored and folded then drew my 1/2" border around the whole thing... Drew my letters, outlined with the bullet end of a ZIG Writer and cut around the negative areas. Drew the floral designs with the fine tip of my ZIG writer and painted the backgrounds with Holbien Peacock Blue.
Wrote in the rest of the text with the fine tip of the ZIG Writer in monoline.

Woven Booklet

I had all these skinny end cuts from geli prints in my off cut basket... and finally decided to use some of them creating these weave patterns... Then I framed them with black cardstock and adhered them to a solid piece of white cardstock and they became covers and page dividers (5 total).

I cut up regular copy paper for the pages (5"w x 10"w x 5shts) and folded in half to create my signatures.

I haven't done hand bound bookbinding in years and really forgot how to do it... so fudged it. Turned out OK. Hung some hand woven beads from scraps as well.

End Cuts - Sewn Skinny Booklet

 

I had these copy paper end cuts size: (1.75"h x 11.5"w) sitting on my desk from another project and said to myself they would make a cute mini booklet... I'm looking at it and thinking I need to pierce my holes to the inside to hide that white coming through. c'est la vie...

Booklet size: (1.75"h x 5.5"w) Ten pages folded in half - 4 signatures and bound them with a simple 3 hole binding technique using dark brown waxed linen thread.
Used cardstock for the covers and wrapped it with a scrap of a pretty scrapbook paper lying on my desk both inside and outside... and with a tiny piece left over made the buckle...

Quilled R - Create To Your Hearts Content

size: 4.5"h x 9"w

On Black Canson paper drew out my letters with a couple of white gel pens till I found one that was working... Doodled in each letter with a different style leaving the "R" for quilling which I haven't done in a whole bunch of years.... I really like the results. Added the rest of the text with a pointed nib and white acrylic Ceramcoat By Delta paint.

Weave - Black Border

I started weaving some pieces and then decided to create a book with them using 2 for the covers and then more for some dividers. Haven't decided yet what paper to use between the weaves...
I raided my scraps for all the strips of geli print paper I have (still have a few left...). I'll be making at least 2 more I think. I want a nice sized booklet.
I adhered the weave to some white Staples cardstock then added the black border.
Time will tell what else I'll do...

Funky Flowers - Floral Wonder

Origami Booklets - Geli Prints

size: 4.5"w x 5.5"h x 1.5" thk.
size: 4.75"w x 4.25"h x .75" thk

I made a pile of geli prints at my last gals get together and created Origami Booklets from them... Nothing inside them yet.
The green one has 18pages including the covers. It's the largest I've done one so far. I reinforced the spine using 110lb cardstock and then glued a geli print onto it.
The orangey one has 10 pages including covers.
Both sizes are made from 8.5 x 11 paper depending on the orientation of your folds you can get either size.

3 Page Geli Print Card

One of our Crafty Dozen gals made a card like this and brought it in to show us. She'll be showing some of the gals at the next Wed get together which I won't be at. I only go to P&I for the past while... So thought I'd give it a try on my own. I love the results but left it without words since I have no idea whom to give it to...
It almost reminds me of a baby card...

I used Value Pack blue and some pale pink cardstock and my geli print paper.
The card base is folded with approx 1/2 gutter in the middle for the middle page to fit in and have room for the embellies.
Rounded the corners. Added the pockets for the bookmarks to each page.
Raided my boxes of pre-die cut or electronically cut butterflies and flowers etc. When everything was glued down... I added some mini rhinestones or butterflies made from woven threads.

 

Oodles Of Doodles

On Canson Mixed Media paper started with the doodles type of abstract floral images... (imagination needed) using a ZIG Writer, then added the caterpillar, blue background and gold semi border.
Funky words also using Prisma colored pencils and a white gel pen.

Was rummaging for something and came across this molded buckle type thing - I again made eons ago... so thought I'd use it on this belt.

I was at my Saturday Play Day with my Guild and started doing some shadow lettering and this emerged.
On Canson Mixed Media paper started with the black shadow line but found it too dull... so added the pink and green accents.

ECS Env Exchange - Feb 2026 - Edwina Klein

Looks like I got Edwina for a 2nd month...

Env done on Genoa Bond paper in a Western style lettering using the 5.0 end of a ZIG black calligraphy pen, a red pen and adding Uniball gold gel pen dots.

Artwork was made a few years back in Gemma Blacks class. I mounted it onto a light brownish base and then onto a white card base.

Funky Card - Life (Art Of The Fold)

Size: 6.5"w x 8"h
This is a weird evolved card - bottom image... it started out with the left (top to bottom) piece which was homework for our next Art Of The Fold meeting using double tab accordion. Then I played with one with single tabs (which I like better), both using my geli print paper.

I had set it aside to work on this other structure that sounded interesting... the blue square section which had interlocking and cut sections. I had adhered it to the orangey piece and then said it would make an interesting card... Then I needed something more for the inside, I used my Art Of The Fold homework pieces.

But of course it didn't stand so had to put the bottom frame on it... and a card is nothing without some calligraphy so added the quote with a black ZIG Calligraphy pen and then added the white highlight using a Gelly Roll 08 pen.

Since I had the inside done I needed something for the front... So tore apart and adhered the marbled rice paper piece from eons ago. I had adhered only the right section, but I had a leftover piece so added it to the other side of the front and wrote in the letters for LIFE with the other end on the calligraphy pen.

I don't know when I had such a convoluted way of making a card...

Monday Creativeness - Geli Prints

 

I was running low of my geli prints... My immediate area of my craft table was finally free... so decided to make more. I have LBS End paper which I cut in half. After about 4 hours I came away with 31 prints (12" x 14"). I printed on both sides, basically the main paint on the front and whatever was left over on the geli plate was spritzed with water and another print pulled. Love them all especially the top batch.

It was a productive day.

Accordion Glued Spine - Cowboy Proverbs

My Guild (BVCG) gave us a challenge of Cowboy Sayings... I created a couple larger pieces and submitted them... but then I was thinking that there were so many more I wanted to play with... so created a booklet of them.

I was looking for something else and found these papers in the back of the drawer and decided to use them for this booklet. It has a lovely texture. The paper is called Ruche paper because of the crinkly effect in it. It has a weight feel of about 100# although I have no idea what it is advertised as. I have it in several colors and decided to use the beige and deep brown (cowboy colors). Text is written in a western type font called "Cowboy-Movie font. A little time consuming but I like the effect.

The booklet has 16 dark brown pages plus the beige cover which is an accordion fold glued spine with folded over covers for additional strength.
