MC Feb/12 - Not a Bowl of Cherries

I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a tendency to pull out a sheet (8.5 x 11") of cardstock and cut off a piece I need, or when making a card, trim off the excess, and all these pieces land in boxes and drawers to use at a later time - when that later time will be - who knows. So I now have piles of stashes of every kind of cardstock and paper and I'm going BONKERS... So I have consciously challenged myself to only use my scraps to create my cards. I'm giving myself till the end of March (of this year... BIG GRIN), to see how far I get into my stash. The only exception would be for my main card base, and that I'll allow myself to use a new piece of cardstock. But even there I'm really going to try to only use all my pre-folded cards I've bought over the years. So all that being said, this is my first card using my challenge and I even used a pre-folded card base this time. YES!!

I'm very happy with the results. I think its a good encouragement card. Love those cherries - a Flourishes stamp. And surprisingly enough I'm not using one of Quietfire Designs stamps this time - that's a rarity.

Anyway, click on card image to see more details and descriptions. Enjoy

And it fits for these challenges:
Totally Stampalicious  Lots of different textures (glossy, dry embossing, canvas, textured CS etc.)
Colour Q   #124 Red, Pink (hard to see, but on the dots on the medallions), pool (lettering & on ribbon), white, vanilla (the ribbon color)

Yogi: your card is so wonderful. I love those cherries too! Thanks for joining us at Simply Create for our "RED HOT" Challenge #6. As for you using 'stash' I too use my stash--it's my 'go to' before I use anything new; however my stash seems to be multiplying. So I battle on! The one thing I did change was that I use a 8 1/2x11" and cut it in half [unless I'm commissioned] and make 2 cards. That saves lots of scraps for me--Any way, have fun crafting!

Those cherries look good enough to eat. However, there is a flaw in your intention. Each time you cut into a piece of card, small or large, you are then left with more snippets of card to put back into the box. It is a good idea though and one which I am following. Good luck. xx Maggie
