MC Mar/12 - Polymer Clay - Shamrock Blessings

So I needed to do a "Green" card - shamrocks, luck of the Irish... stuff like that. And this is what came of it.

I used polymer clay to create the shamrocks. I finally have a toaster oven that has a temperature gauge that works...

And it fits for these challenges:
Raise the Bar  #94 use twine

One of Flourishes challenges is a Double Embossing technique. I must admit, it's rare I use it, preferring rather to just use my rubber mallet to emboss where I want. But it was a good exercise anyway...

MC Aug/11 Easel Xmas Stars

So now I'm entering Flourishes Xmas challenge - inspired by a song "Dear Santa" by Clara Beeson Hubbard... I was reading the rules and then realized I had to use Flourishes stamps too... Had to rethink my card since I really only have 2 Xmas sets and I've used them both on previous cards. Well that was a challenge BIG GRIN. So I used bits and pieces from 3 stamps sets to fill in my stars with an Xmas feel to it. I think it worked.

I'm also using Textured Word set from Quietfire Design which i seem to be using quite a bit lately. They're so versatile.

So to see more details and descriptions etc, just click on card image and enjoy.

And it fits for these challenges too:

CBH July 12/11 - 2 colors - PolyClay Fiddleheads

LinkThe other day I was in a Polymer clay mood and wanted to make something similar I saw on line. You can see it HERE. Well, I can say without a doubt the original one I saw is about 200% better than mine... I guess I need to practice more BIG GRIN, but even so, I don't mind mine at all.

I had started with some already mixed clay and added other scraps which gave me a greyish blend, which I then extruded, coiled and lay down on another thin piece of clay (dark green blend). I then cut around my coil work and removed the negative areas. I sponged Distress greens on some cardstock, misted with water, dried and then stamped the word "Fiddleheads" and the Fiddlehead Ferns (both by Quietfire Design) with more Distress greens. Then I adhered my polyclay layer.

And this weeks theme over on Created By Hand and Quietfire Creations is "2 colors" which mine is - green & grey.

Stampede 2011

The entry deadline has passed and I'm finally able to upload my Stampede pieces I entered for this year's contest. What with some ATC's I did a while back and the piece on the left, you can see I was in a Zen - doodle mood, and I'm using one of my favorite styles - Funky Neuland... you all know how I love "funky".

The piece on the right is basically Roman caps proportions. I recently took a class taught by Renate Worthington - "More than Just Roman Caps" and got a new appreciation for these letter forms. This is a layered piece, with the pencil worked letters as a base (they're not traditional Romans) but really like their look.

Anyway to see more details and descriptions, just click on either piece and you'll be taken to that web page. Enjoy. Now I keep my fingers crossed. I'll know on July 10th if I won anything. BIG GRIN

CBH - MC May11 - Lined Page - Write You Letters

Love the way this card came together. Starting with the notebook embossing folder, then the Kraft cardstock (like milk chocolate...). And when writing letters there must be a least a piece of chocolate or a chocolate cupcake to devour BIG GRIN

The theme on Created By Hand and Quietfire Creations is lined pages or journals.

I'm using a couple quotes by Quietfire Design as well as the cupcake image and the sentiment "my friend".

I'm using Becca's ribbon flower technique, but with my own twist of 2 different colors of ribbon.

Should you wish to see more images, details and descriptions, then just click on card image and enjoy.

Aprill 2011 ATCs Oriental

My face to face ATC trading is next week, so I had to snap to it to get these done since I have another 4 day class coming up this weekend. This one with Barbara Close.

Anyway click on ATC at left to see the other 8 that I made. There's a nice variety. Enjoy

I had a little helpful inspiration from 2 of my blogger friends, Wanda at Art by Wanda for the bookplate idea with sequin waste background, she had a word stamped inside the oval. I added the shrink plastic inset instead and mine is a faux bookplate whereas her's were the real deal....

Then I made several Scor-Tape ribbon flowers from Becca at Amazing Grace. Very addictive.BIG GRIN I can't find the post where she wraps it around a thin ruler and then rather than wrapping the taped ribbon around a brush handle, she wrapped it tightly like a rose bud by hand, which is the way I did mine.

MC Apr/11 - PC Flower - Thinking of You using Quietfire Design rubber

It's real hard to think of spring when there's about 8" of snow that has fallen today here in Calgary - wet heavy stuff...

I made the air dried polymer clay flower a few days ago and have been itching to put it on a card. yes!!! and check out the center of that flower. Check out how I made it by clicking on the card.

Did some digital creating and cutting with my Cricut (birdcage, butterfly & scalloped piping border), some edge punching and flower punching, some die cutting with shrink plastic, making a scored background...

My sentiment is by Quietfire Design.

Click on card to see details descriptions and close ups etc. Enjoy

MC Mar/11 - Glitter - A Smile

There were two things I wanted to use on this card and then there was a sketch I thought would work, although it's rare I use sketches, preferring more to just let things evolve, rather than forcing them within set designs. But I guess everyone works differently.

The flower is the latest tutorial on Becca Feeken's blog, so easy, and so impressive.

The glitter rectangles is actually made from Floral wrapping I picked up at my local "M" store. Really pretty stuff, then I added the glitter to it.

Made my own embellishments too, using the Lumina air dry Polymer Clay stuff I recently picked up. I'm going to pick up more of it...

Lots of die cutting, so if you want to see more details, descriptions and closeups, just click on card image. Enjoy

And the theme this week over on Created By Hand and Quietfire Creations is Out like a lamb or Glitter. It's sure evident I didn't use any lambs... BIG GRIN

MC Mar/11 - Greens - Pandas Thanks

Shabby chic and vintage are not easy subjects for me, even though I love the look of them, but since there were a couple challenges that asked for it, I decided to give it a go...

The sentiment is from Quietfire Design. I love those pandas, from Local King Rubber, but I think this is the first time I've used them.

And this week over on Created By Hand the theme is Lucky or Green

The pin on top with the elephant is an altered item. I had these doll head pins from eons ago and never used them. Didn't really want to use it this time either, but then I said - how can I alter it - and that got me in to two challenges - one that uses pins and one that said alter something BIG GRIN.

Tags is something else I very rarely use. But since there were several challenges that asked for tags as well - figured I might as well make one. And with all these challenges I really like the end result.

Anyway if you want to see more details and descriptions etc, just click on card image. Enjoy.

So it fits for these challenges:
The Pink Elephant #94 Buttons, lace & ribbon
TSG Clear Stamps #96 Stamp on something other than CS (Polymer Clay, then baked)
Spoonful of Sugar #141 use a tag

Polymer Clay ATCs

I got a few more books on Polymer clay and the pics were so glorious, I had to pull some out and play today.

The one on the left is removable from the ATC and the recipient can wear it. The one on the right is stationary - attached with the heart brad.

Click on either ATC to see more details and descriptions etc. It's on the same sticker ATC page as the last post. So these will be on the top.

They also use some of my Calligraphic Peel Off stickers on the ecraftdesigns.com label.

Enjoy

I finally finished a few ATCs for our trade this Thursday. The theme was to use punches in unusual ways, or not what the punch may seem at first glance.

Enjoy.
