PP Mar/12 - Best Friends & Dream

Went to one of my favorite rubber stamping stores, Paper Pastimes, for a demo and quick card making session of Impression Obsession Cover a Card stamps. I love Cover a Card stamps, and love double stamping with them.

The 1st card is a 6 x 6" card that was supposed to be top folded... you know how I really, really dislike top folded cards. So decided to go side folded and do a few alterations... Well a few turned in to several, because I stamped the trees upside down in relation to the cut out window. Sheesh. Anyway, when I got home I just cut the top part of the card away from the back, trimmed it down neatly and die cut these little hinges, which now hold the front and back together, and added small half pearls... Also the stamp used for the words was a horizontal stamp, which as you can gather doesn't fit in the opening anymore. So I hand wrote the quote with a black Zig Writer and colored in some of the openings. Voila, I really like the end result.

We used Distress Tumbled Glass for the "Cloud" background, then Vintage Photo for the "Tree Line" stamp. The main card is a deep chocolate brown with a white insert.

The 2nd card is 4.25"w x 5.5"h scalloped cream toned card with layers of ocher and top layer a beige. Stamped the "Distress" stamp first with Wild Honey, then with "Bundled Sage", stamping in a different direction. Then stamped the "Birds on Clothesline" (wood mount stamp) with Walnut Stain (I colored the birds after with a Pentel pocket brush pen). Stamped the quote and birds nest with the same brown, then the Best Friends with Peeled Paint. At home I colored the eggs a light blue.

I like both of these.. The tree card really caught my eye and I enjoyed reading about how you 'saved' it..
Cheers, Karen

I am with you re: top folded cards. They never stand up! Great save and both these cards are beautiful. The bird stamp is too cute!

Sitting beside you was a hoot as usual. I love these cards too. I on the other hand got the top of my tree card just a bubble off plumb, today I am fixing mine as well I'm not quite as fast as you. Went home with 5 more of the stamps, love these Impression Obsession cover-a-card stamps. I just love Paper Pastimes, some cool classes coming up there.
