Xmas12_PlayDay

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I was going to a play day at a friends home, which was yesterday. Wonderful, friends were great and potluck was awesome. I demoed a glitter technique using both alcohol media and water based media and I had also brought along some cut outs of images from glittered paper (Sookwang tape on white cardstock & Ritz mcro fine glitter "Warm Highlights") using my electronic cutter and a silhouette image of the ornament stamps, which would then be stamped on to these cut outs using the appropriate stamp pad for the coloring media they wanted to use. I think they enjoyed the demo.

So if you want to color with water based media, like Tombows, Distress Markers, Watercolor paints (not acrylic), you need to stamp with a pigment or alcohol based stamped pad, like Versafine or Archival or Staz-on etc. There are others, but these are the most common.

And if you want to color with alcohol based media like Copics, Spectrum Noir pens, Alcohol re-inkers etc, you need to stamp with a water based stamp pad such as Distress pads, Memento, Adirondack dye based ink pads etc. and as above there are many more dye based pads on the market.

If you do not stamp with the appropriate ink pad for the media you want to use, the stamp pad ink will bleed and ruin your design. If you are looking for a very distressed look then by all means stamp and color as desired and don't follow the rules...

The first card used Versafine Black Onyx on the ornament and colored with a combination of Tombows & Distress markers. Die cut the pine branch sprig (Marianne Designs) from white cardstock and sponged Distress greens, then used a pine branch stamp (Flourishes "Holiday Sparkle" #173) to randomly stamp on the die cut. Embossed the background with Crafts Too "Baubles" embossing folder. Stamped the sentiment with the black and colored with Prisma colored pencils, then put down a pencil shadow using a paper stump.

This next card uses the Cuttlebug folder from the "Winter Wonderland" set, embossed twice turning the folder on it's side. Die cut the flourish branch (Cheery Lynn "Tropical Flourish"), sponged with Distress. Ornament stamped with Distress pad Black Soot and colored with Spectrum Noir. Sentiment stamped with Versafine.

The next two cards are scenic, using masks and home made cloud stencil to create the scenes. Sentiments/quote stamped with Versafine. Stamps used were Local King Rubber "Sure Footed" and the Xmas trees from Old Island Rubber. Stamping and sponging of scene done with Distress pads.

All cards are either 4.25"w x 5.5"h or it's landscape version.
