MC Oct/12 - 1 stamp 2 ways - Hello Doily

ID: MC Oct/12 - Doily - You Can Never
ID: MC Oct/12 - Doily - You Never Know How

One of the challenges was to use one stamp two ways and it's also a single layer challenge blog. And then another challenge was to use red and turquoise as a color combo - sorry, that's a weird combo, but it turned out OK...
The first card uses the stamp as a focal image, and then to make the handmade floral embellie and as a watercolor lifting technique on the rest of the background. The second card uses it as an all over background over a mask. Both cards are 5"w x 6.5"h. Click on either card to see a larger version.

1st card: I stamped the doily (Stampin Up "Hello Doily") with Perfect Medium and clear embossed. Sponged DistressAged mahogany & Broken China and some Brushed Corduroy all over, wiping down the embossed image. Stamped the sentiment (Quietfire Design)  with Versafine Vintage Sepia and clear embossed. Cleaned my doily stamp and misted with water then stamped around the card, misting & drying between stamping. Stamped the doily again on a separate piece of cardstock with the Perfect Medium, clear embossed and sponged with the Broken China, Festive Berry and Aged Mahogany, then cut out the petals, curling them around a pencil and gluing to the card. Colored a large clear rhinestone with Spectrum Noir red pen (looks pinky but is red).

2nd card: Stamped my quote (Quietfire Design) with Versafine Black Onyx, clear embossed. Cut a mask using Spellbinders Floral Ovals and tacked it over the quote. Inked up my doily stamp with chalk ink "Vintage Pink", repeatedly inking and stamping around the card. Sponged a touch of Distress Brushed Corduroy around the edges of the mask and edges of the card. Removed the mask. Penciled in a shadow line around the masked outline blending with a paper stump.

And it fits for these challenges:
Simplicity By Late Blossom  OLW#108 1 stamp 2 ways
The Crafty Pad  #191 vintage
Opus Gluei  #141 turquoise & red
Pile it On Challenge  #41 vintage
