MC Oct/12 - Gelato Squares - Thanks

Was playing with my Gelatos the other day and made this background with these kind of colors and really liked the results. But this challenge calls for a one layer card, so masked my border, and used my rubber mallet to imprint the colored/embossed details on the front of the side folded 5"w x 6.5"h card.

I used light blue, two pinks, metallic purple & metallic green, misted with water and pressed my embossing folder (Cuttlebug "Traffic Jam") closed... Repeated to get the top area done - you know the folder wasn't the right size... Dried everything, then ran a Perfect Medium pad all over the design and embossed with Pearlescent embossing powder. Sanded off the high points. Used a purple Spectrum Noir pen to create my border, then did another line with a Black Zig Writer.

Inked up a piece of white cardstock, both direct to paper and sponging with Distress Dusty Concord" & "Seedless Preserves". Misted with water and dried, then ran a Perfect Medium pad all over and clear embossed. Ran through my machine with Sizzix Tim's "Elegant Flourish" die. Adhered to card.

Stamped the sentiment (Quietfire Design) with Versafine Black Onyx.

And it fits for these challenges:
Cardz  OLW#110 squares
Old Back Porch  #42 Card a Week
Fussy & Fancy  #74 Anything goes

PS - I've never used a rubber mallet to make a card before. In my house we call it 'The Persuader'! LOL!

Great effect Yogi and I love the fact that you use a rubber mallet in your crafting. I won't mess with you then ;-)

Thanks for joining us over at Fussy and Fancy for our "anything goes" challenge - good luck!

Saw your link in the OLW110 gallery. Great card! Like your mix of colors. Achieving them w/inks, an embossing folder and a rubber-mallet ... very creative. Hee! :)

Your background is lovely and I really like the contrast of geometric shapes with the organic flourish.
