MC Mar/13 - Pussy Willows - God Grant Me

I started this card because one of the challenges called for using pastels. Haven't used my Pan Pastels in a while so out they came. I love the softness and spring like feel to the card. I think it goes so well with this newest calligraphed stamp from Quietfire Design "God Grant me the Serenity".

The card is side folded 5"w x 7"h white cardstock. I stamped the quote with Perfect Medium and clear embossed. Masked off my edges and applied my pastels, then wiping with a tissue. Ironed off the clear embossing between clean sheets of newsprint.

The quote lost some of it details. so re-stamped with the Perfect Medium and embossed with white. I still wasn't happy, so re-stamped the quote with a slight offset in Versafine Black Onyx. Love the shadowing effect. Looks better in real than in the photograph.

I then cut out scalloped edges (Spellbinders "On the Edge" set) and spliced them together to create a rectangle mask. Removed my tape from the first step and lay down my mask and applied more pastels.

Stamped the pussy willows (gg designs - set of 3 willow sprigs) using chalk stamp pads in a green and then touching spots with a brown. Applied glue to the heads of the pussy willows and adhered white Flocking thickly.

Sprayed my card with workable fixative.

And it fits for these challenges:
Incy Wincy Designs  #189 use pastels
Simon Says Stamps  Anything Goes
Frosted Designs  use scallops
One Stitch at a Time  #157 Spring

Oh my, Yogi, this is beautiful. I really thought the pussy willows were real. Last week I did a similar offset stamping technique with a QFD quote; great minds think alike. :-)

WOW Yogi, I love this. As you say, the pastels have worked brilliantly for this creation. You certainly had a battle with the Serenity verse but all your work paid off. Stunning card. Good luck in this weeks OSAAT challenge and hope to see you back again soon. Hugs Jane OSAAT DT
