MC Mar/13 - Quill - Let the Beauty

I saw some quilled flowers online that looked really pretty, so decided to make some of them, also using my recent fern type leaf shape. and an oldie but goodie calligraphic stamp I haven't used in ages from Quietfire Design (this one's from July 2005 - I can't believe that's 8 years ago, sheesh).

The card is side folded 5"w x 7"h white cardstock. I die cut the top layer (Spellbinders "Majestic Elements") from white cardstock and sponged Distress Greens & a touch of brown, then cut it into a rectangle.

The underlayer is white cardstock embossed with Spellbinders mBossibilities "Flora" using the branchy leaf side. Sponged Distress Picked Raspberry around the edges then went over that with the dirty green sponge. Trimmed it to fit my card leaving a white border. Adhered the 1st layer to the 2nd layer, then wrapped a pink gauze ribbon around the bottom area. Adhered these elements to the card then adhered all my quilled pieces.

The quilled flower petals have a separate quilled piece. I had colored one side of my pink quill paper with a Tombow marker in a magenta tone. The main portion of the petal is a combing technique which then wraps around the little quilled piece, then more pink is wrapped around the petal to hold it all together, then a final wrapping with the 2 tone paper.

The stamen are knots done in black 4ply waxed linen thread (available thru Quietfire Design), then adhered around a center tight coil.

The leaf I also colored one side of a mint green quill paper with an olive Tombow and combed on a hair comb.

The quote I inked with Versafine Vintage Sepia and touched spots with a Black Onyx pad.
