MC Oct/13 - Cardinal - Thanksgiving

One of the challenges called for leaves... and the rest just evolved...

Click on any image to enlarge. Enjoy.

Side folded my white card (5"w x 7"h). Stamped part of the Thanksgiving quote (Quietfire Design) all over using Versafine "Habernero", touching here and there with "Toffee" then a bit of "Vintage Sepia" - reinking my stamp as necessary.

Cut a piece of white cardstock and embossed with a Craft Concepts "Christmas Vine" (but I thought the leaves worked well with my design...). Trimmed it down and edged it with a Krylon Gold Leafing pen. Adhered to center of card.

I scanned a couple leaves from some kind of oak tree near my house and cut various sizes out with my electronic cutter from white cardstock. Sponged Distress "Mustard Seed", "Dried Marigold" & "Spiced Marmalade", scored veins and then sponged more colros "Crushed Olive" & "Walnut Stain". When the ink dried, I touched the edges using a dauber filled with clear embossing liquid (newest acquisition from Ranger) and embossed with Queen's Gold embossing powder.

Stamped the cardinal on floral bough (Heartfelt Creations) and created a silhouette image to cut with my electronic cutter. Cut from white cardstock and then inked up my stamp with Versafine Black Onyx and pressed the cut out down on to the stamp. Colored with Prisma Colored pencils.

Created another cut image for the flowers, colored them, tooled them and then adhered them to the stamped cut out.

Assembled and adhered all the elements, adding various sizes of red rhinestones in the flower centers.

On the inside I stamped 2/3 of the quote (sorry the last part of the quote is just not me...) and a bunch of maple leaves (Time to Stamp) using the colors from above.

And it fits for these challenges:
Incy Wincy Design  #216 give thanks

Tuesday Throwdown  #167 Fall colors
My Time To Craft  #236 Thank you
One Stitch at a Time  #183 Autumn

Yogi, this card is amazing. Those leaves are just gorgeous and I love the idea of scanning the real thing but then you still need the skills and vision to make them look so real in 'paper' and you've certainly achieved that. Your Red Cardinal is a lovely splash of colour amidst all the Autumn leaves and flowers. An outstanding Thanksgiving card. Good luck in our challenge this week. Ingrid xx (OSAAT Team)
