MC Oct/13 - Poinsettias - Merry Christmas

I was in the process of e-cutting some stencils, I first edited a poinsettia in a photo editing program then cut electronically, the first one out of cardstock just to make sure of my design, then out of clear plastic. This first clear plastic one I did were from .003 Duralux which is a pretty thin plastic... but as a result, I decided to use the negative pieces for one of these cards. I have another one stashed away... Then I cut some out of .007 clear plastic... that's for another day.

Both cards done on 110# white cardstock 5.5" x 4.25" either landscape mode or portrait mode

So with the cardstock one, I left it on my mat and sponged a couple of Distress Reds all over (Worn Lipstick, Festive Berry, & Aged Mahogany), then stamped it with a Cornish Heritage Farms Music background using Versafine Black Onyx. I then removed it from my mat and started adhering the pieces to my card front using the stencil part to position my pieces correctly. Stamped the Xmas sentiment (Quietfire Design) with the black and clear embossed, then did the outline with a black Zig Writer. Final touch added a bunch of small yellow half pearls for the center.

For the clear plastic one, I embossed them with the Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots" folder, colored the backs with Spectrum Noir alcohol pens in a very light pink, then a fuchsia type pink, working with the light pink again to blend. When all were done and dry, I put them through my Zyron and used variegated gold leaf flakes on the adhesive side, burnished to remove excess. I used regular PVA glue to adhere each petal to my card, same process as above. Stamped the sentiment and added the black lines. Final touch used a Viva Yellow Quartz Glitter Pen for the center dots.

And it fits for these challenges:
Fashionable Stamping  #58  use a mask or a stencil
One Stitch At A Time  #184 use a digi
Pile it on Challenge  #40 use your favorite color as a main color (today it's a red/pinky tone)
365 Cards  #279 sketch (see below - up side down)

Oh my goodness Yogi - both these cards are totally awesome and they look so very different from one another as you have treated the pointsettia pieces with such different techniques. I am full of admiration for your creativity. I should also like to thank you for the very clear instructions you give when you post your cards.... mini tutorials which are as much a pleasure to read as they are informative. Good luck in our challenge this week. Ingrid xx (OSAAT Team)

I love this card and the technique is clever! The poinsettia on its own is beautiful but with the stamping through it - it makes it extra special.

Thank you for playing at OSAAT challenge this week. Hope we see you again.

Hi Yogi, I know I've commented on this one before. I just wanted to ask whether I could use your ponsettia to make a stencil from plastic, to be used for personal use. When I put it on my blog, i will put a link to your blog. (Maybe you could send me the edited picture you used to cut it? I will have to cut it by hand, as I don't owe a electronic cutter. ) Of course you may say NO altogether...
