Calligraphed Envelopes

Was in a mood to do a bit of calligraphy... and needed to make some envelopes. These 4 Guild members were teaching a class on Brush Lettering for envelopes and various ways of decorating them. Didn't take the class - figured I knew enough ways of decorating envelopes since that's something I always do. BIG GRIN

The first 2 envelopes were made with my We R Memories Envelope Punch and are 4.5 x 8" and I used our Calligraphy pad paper because I wanted to letter with my parallel pen and Ecoline inks. Working on a regular store bought envelopes, I know it bleeds like crazy... but even so, Thea's letters did end up bleeding a bit too. Sigh!!

I love doing these new type of letters (at least to me), with the pen manipulation. I'm still practicing them. I used a pencil and paper stump to add shadow to each letter. I then used a Sizzix embossing folder (Flourish) and my hard rubber mallet to emboss the edge of the envie., then ran a Distress pad (Festive Berry) over the high points. Sponged the outer edges with a dirty pink sponge.

For Thea's envie., I used one of Tim's masks, both the positive (on the right side) and the negative (on the left side), sponging with Distress "Picked Raspberry", and a touch of "Dusty Concord", then adding dots using a Wink of Stella gold pen.

The next two envelopes are store bought legal size. I wrote in Kerri's name suing a Zig calligraphy Pen in black using my Job Wouter's style lettering. I then gilded the center squares. I added some white colored pencil as a base on the upper portion of each letter and then colored in with a fuchsia colored pencil.

Again I used one of Tim's stencils "Harlequin" sponging the pink, purple and some "Worn Lipstick" with medium pressure in the center area. Moved the stencil over and did some lighter sponging giving it a ghost like look. I added a couple vertical lines with the Wink of Stella gold pen.

For this last card I used a black Zig Writer and a monoline lettering on a separate piece of calligraphy paper. Added doodling with my mix of Copic white ink and h2ยบ and a pointed pen. Surrounded each letter with a punched out heart detail and then either colored in or did some pointillism on the others. Embossed on either side of her name with the Flourish embossing folder and hit the high points with the red pad. Adhered it to the envelope and added thick horizontal lines with a red colored pencil.
