Calligraphy - Dr Seuss - Youer Than You; I Am; & I Like to Paint

I was on a roll the past couple days... Our Guild is putting on a juried show in the beginning of May... We're allowed to enter up to 4 pieces (maybe more after they speak to the committee...

Anyway it motivated me to finally do some calligraphy. The criteria was it had to be matted in a black mat 12" x 12" with an opening of 7.5" x 7.5" - a pretty good size.

So the 1st piece I did was "I Am" using a twisted manipulation of the pen... still working on that technique. Probably would of helped with a different nib.

The next piece was the Dr Seuss piece, using Derwent Inktense watercolors, than my Gelli Plate and gesso. Really like the results of the background and love the quote, so whimsical.

And this last piece that I did today "I Like to Paint" - I thought that quote was true for a lot of artist... although I'm not one of them because I LOVE to cook and have no problems filling my plate - ROFL, although when I get in the "zone" of art, I forget to eat...
