MC July/14 - Two Turtle Doves

Too many Xmas challenges at the moment... so thought I'd make one. Sheesh. I've been on this kick lately of using Quietfire Design stamps to make backgrounds... so that's how this one started.

I side folded my white card (4.25"w x 5.5"h). Put all the stamps from the 12 Days of Christmas set onto my acrylic block, inked with Versamark, stamped and clear embossed.

Direct to Paper with Distress blues ("Stormy Sky", "Chipped Sapphire"), sponged with "Seedless Preserves", the direct to paper with "Broken China". wiped off excess from embossed areas. I really liked the intensity of color... but it didn't look so good with my dove image. So misted my background well and dried. That toned it down nicely, but still not enough... So put a layer of Drafting Vellum over top. Perfect. Glued it down around the edges using Glossy Accents. Another dilemma... I didn't like the darker edge the glue made, so cut strips of a purple toned cardstock from my stash and adhered them to the edge. Yes!!

Stamped the "Two Turtle Doves" words (from the Christmas set) onto the purple cardstock with Versamark and embossed with Queen's Gold. Hand cut the rounded edge and the picot edge. adhered to card off the edge.

I had the two turtle doves (Flourishes) already cut from a previous session from last year's Xmas batch in the stamp package. BIG GRIN I had electronically cut it and stamped, I believe, using Distress markers and misting with water. Adhered the cut out onto the card. As a final touch added very small red half pearls for some of the berries.
