MC Sept/14 - Quill - Holly & Ivy

One of the challenges called for no rubber or digi stamps... that's not easy for me to do, since I almost always use a Quietfire Design quote or sentiment stamp... So instead I used one of Suzanne's newest eCut designs available on the Silhouette OnLine store "Holly&Ivy"

I side folded my white card (4.25"w x 5.5"h) and embossed with Sizzix (Tim's "Holly Branch") embossing folder. I did cut the folder apart and taped it together on the opposite end so I could position the embossing more to the top of my card... Hit the high points direct to paper with Distress "Shabby Shutters", then with "Pine Needles". Sponged around the rest of the card front with a dirty green sponge.

Adhered my quilled elements. Those holly leaves are made with a double length of lime green paper (ugh!!) so I colored on one side using a Distress marker "Pine Needles". The berries are tight red coils which I dabbed with some glue and sprinkled with Glitter Ritz micro fine glitter "Regal Red". Also added the same glitter on the embossed berries.

Adhered a narrow green ribbon on the left side with Sookwang tape.

eCut the words from white cardstock and then while still on the mat direct to paper with ""Fired Brick", then the Shabby shutters, then some pine needles. Removed from mat and applied Versamark on the words and clear embossed. Adhered to card front.

Click on either card image to enlarge. Enjoy

And it fits for these challenges:
Dreamvalley Challenge  #90 no stamping or digi
Craftin Desert Divas  #40 anything goes
Crazy Challenge  #179 use 3 of something (3 holly berries; 3 techniques - dry emboss, quill, eCutting)

Loves Rubber Stamps  #120 glitter or sparkle
PaperTake Weekly  repeat (the holly)

Oh, my, that's a very pretty Christmas card, Yogi! Good idea for getting the sentiment on there without stamping. That would be hard for me, too.

Your window scene is just so beautiful, Yogi! Clever to design the window yourself. It's perfect! I do love the quilled holly, too, and the embossed panel. I'm working on Christmas cards and having a little too much fun now that the time is getting closer.
