MC Nov/14 - Mittens - Let it Snow

I've been itching to do a card with mittens... Then there was the Card Maker Magazine challenge calling for flocking... a match made for heaven...

Side folded my white card (4.25"w x 5.5"h). Stamped the circle quote ("Snowflakes are Butterflies..." 6pce set) Using Distress "Festive Berry" and touching with "Mowed Lawn" then misting with water.

Used a snowflake embossing folder (Sheena Douglas) and my hard rubber mallet to emboss where I wanted... Sponged "Tumbled Glass" around the edges.

Hand cut a pair of mittens. I had some snowflake release papers on my desk from a previous project, so used one of them as a mask and sponged over it with "Worn Lipstick". Applied Quickie Glue in the snowflake and sprinkled with glitter (eCraft Designs "Warm Diamonds"). Trimmed a piece of Sookwang tape for the cuff and applied white flocking. Tied a couple bows with a burgundy toned narrow ribbon and adhered to each mitten cuff, then adhered a ribbon linking both. Adhered to card front.

On the inside, stamped the "Merry Christmas" Snowflakes (2 pce set) using "Salty Ocean" & misting with water. Stamped the "Let it Snow" with "Chipped Sapphire" also misting with water. Sponged some blue around the edges.

Love all the techniques and your sentiment is great. I would love to know how you use a rubber mallet with an embossing folder. Do you hit it hard to make the impressions? Thanks for sharing at Love to Scrap!
