MC Jan/15 - Quill Easel Gelli Print Love U - Always Be My Friend

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2015/MCJan155_QuillEaselGelliPrintLoveU_AlwaysBeMyFriend.htmlI had an epiphany the other day and finally did some experimenting yesterday. You know I love calligraphy, love my gelli plate and would love to have calligraphy on my pulled prints... but that is not an easy task with a broad edge type pen and calligraphic style lettering since you need the lettering in reverse. Then I thought - the epiphany - why not make a print onto a 2nd gelli plate and then pull a print. It would get my lettering in reverse, and it worked, but with limitations... Thin lines seem to disappear. And depending on the type of paper used you get a wide difference in results.

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2015/MCJan155_QuillEaselGelliPrintLoveU_AlwaysBeMyFriend.htmlSo the words Love U on the front are done with a plastic glue spreader I picked up at Kensington Art Supply here in Calgary. It's about 1/2"w and I was able to manipulate my strokes to do some of my Funky Bone style lettering on the gelli plate without damaging the plate.

Next experiment will be with a narrower writing tool, more types of papers, more spritzing on the papers etc... Will eventually make a web page with my findings.

Anyway you can see all the details and descriptions by clicking on any card image. Enjoy

Yogi, this is a lovely card! I really like the lettering...it looks sculpted, if that makes sense. I've never used a Gelli Plate, but I think you are terribly clever to figure out how to make it work for you. Thanks for sharing it with us at Craft Hoarders Anonymous!
