Versals G - Garden Delights - HB

For those of you who didn't come out for our BVCG Guild's AGM meeting last night... you missed a good  hands on calligraphy meeting taught by Lynn Slevinsky. Loved it.

Lynn always comes so totally prepared. She supplied us with the Kraft card blank and matching envelope, a decorative piece of scrapbook paper (I snuck a 2nd piece...), a white liner and our main piece of Kraft for our Versals. Lots of instructions and samples. She also painted a white dry brush kind of under layer using acrylic paint with a stiff brush to give a textural look.

So we traced our letter onto the Kraft and most colored with a red or blue opaque gouache - really nice effect, but I was more in the mood to color using my Prisma colored pencils and using a blending technique - first coloring the letter with a white pencil then with yellow & red and a Splendor blender pencil.

I had drawn the letter with a regular pencil, then went over it with a Zig marker, then outlined that with a 1.0 Copic Multiliner pen. The white lines is a Sakura Geli Roll pen. The decorative design in the interior is a Prisma colored white pencil. Also added some red dots in the picot design using a Pilot G-Tec pen.

On the inside We had a white insert which we glued in. When I came home, I stamped the "Garden Delights" Quietfire Design (8 pce stamp set) frame using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Then stamped the "Happy Birthday" using Distress mini pads, "Mustard Yellow" all over then here and there with "Barn Door", misted with water and stamped.
The flowers are ArteNew "Lacy Scrolls stamp set - flowers inked with the yellow and then "Picked Raspberry", the leaves with "Crushed Olive" and then with "Forest Moss". Everything was misted prior stamping.
