MC Oct/12 - Sepia Bird - HB

Interesting challenge to only use Sepia... I enjoyed doing something plain and simple for a change BIG GRIN

I used my Gelatos on this newest stamp (Inkadinkado "Jumbo Songbird"), coloring the whole design with an ochre, then hitting it with a bit of orange and then the whole thing with the dark brown, misting with water, and misting my110# white cardstock, then stamping, keeping it in place for a few seconds, lifting and drying. Cleaning my stamp, inking it up with Distress Walnut Stain and overstamping. Dried.

Stamped the "Happy Birthday" (Quietfire Design) with Perfect Medium and clear embossing. Sponging the Walnut Stain all over and more heavily around the edges.

Cleaning my stamp again, and inking only the leaves/branches with the Walnut Stain, stamping and embossing with Distress Walnut Stain.

I added a few doodle marks with a Zig Writer , the eye and some lines in the feathers and some leaf veining.

I then used Sizzix WoodGrain embossing folder and my rubber mallet to randomly emboss around the stamping. The hit the high points with the Walnut Stain sponge.

Attached some dark brown brads and adhered to a white card (5"w x 7"h)

It fits for these challenges:
My Time to Craft  #193 only Sepia
Flourishes  #192 Birthday
Paper Play Challenge  #12-42 something wood (paper, wood, image etc)
Trimmie's Crafts  #177 use metal

This card just caught my eye completely - it's lovely and I like the many effects you've used to obtain texture and interest.

I can see that a hammer is becoming an essential in the crafter's arsenal :) This is the second card I've viewed today that one had been used on.
