MC Feb/13 - CSM - BFly HB

I decided to try the Canadian Scrapbookers Magazine Sketch Challenge for Feb. I'm not a scrapbooker, so made a card instead.

I side folded my white card. Stamped the Happy Birthday (Quietfire Design) using Perfect Medium and clear embossed. Inked up a shadow frame square (Prairie Rubber Stamps) using Distress pads "Mustard Seed" all over then tapped with "Picked Raspberry" misted generously with water and stamped. Ironed off my clear embossing between clean sheets of newsprint and a dry hot iron. Re-stamped slightly off set creating a shadow like look using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.

Stamped the other rectangles the same way. The one on top that has a frayed edge is by Lost Coast Rubber.
Masked off the area around my rectangles and stamped the floral sprig (Stamp Barn) with the black. Colored in the leaves with a mint green Prisma colored pencil and the flowers with a white pencil.
Stamped the flourished butterfly (Choclate Baroque "Damask Squares" set) with the black. Used a Quickie Glue Pen on the leafy branches and applied Glitter Ritz micro fine glitter "Copper"; the outline with "Java Bean"; and filled in the negative spaces with "Warm Highlights".

As a final touch I selectively embossed around the rectangles using Couture Creations "Pastorale" embossing folder and a hard rubber mallet.

Cut the front of my card around the larger rectangle, lightly penciled in my edges to stamp the callligraphed butterfly circle (Quietfire Design) then used a Spellbinders Grand Oval die and my mallet again to cut around the stamped circle.

And it fits for these challenges:

Beautiful, Yogi! At first I thought you used scraps of printed fabric for the card front!
