BVCG - Words In Circle

My Guild put out a challenge to write one of the words or all the words given or do whatever with them... Rachel Yallop will be teaching us on Jan 20th to work with circles and stuff. It's been a while since I've done anything with circles so I thought I'd played... I like the way it turned out.

As you can see, one of the words was crossed out... if there isn't a mistake in my piece, it's probably not mine. My mind has a one track lane... ROFL

Foundational - May The Forest

Our Guild is having a ZOOM Galleria next week and the deadline is tomorrow for entries... I wasn't going to enter because the topic "Write Down The Road" just didn't inspire me. I'm not into "journaling" and I haven't really traveled in about 15 years... but then in our eBulletin today I noticed there were some funny sentences that we could use... and yes finally was inspired.

Yogi Mini Books - Your Turn #5 - 10

 

I've been in collaboration with Phyllis Cole-Dai (author, songwriter, poet). I love her poems and she asked me to do them in calligraphy creating it in a hand bound book form with a protective box. I was thrilled.

We're making it an open series for the 1st poem. I've created 4 so far, and now the next 6 which will all be available in the US on Phyllis's website only (sorry Canadians). This is due to the exorbitant amount for shipping - sigh.This is the end of this series, unless there is a high demand and I might get twisted to do a few more...

If someone in the Calgary area wants one for pick up, I will gladly make them one in their preferred color. Or in Canada if they don't mind the shipping charges.

I was commissioned to make a couple wedding cards, so created them as "Enchanted Letters" (a la Heather Held). These are more simplified than I've done in the past, but I like the results

Wk 34 - Recipe - Swagger

Scribbled Lives 2020 - wk 34 - Recipe. In one of Julie Wildman's classes there were these really funky letter forms and then I came across them again in the latest John Neal's Letter Arts Review, so decided to try creating them... I used Bister ink then dropped in Dr Martin's concentrated watercolors and sprinkled with Schminke gold powder. They look so good in real life...

BVCG July Lettering Challenge - Day 19 & 20.

Both of these are kid of fun... I haven't been on a rollercoaster in probably over 50 years. I tried to mimic the ups and downs with the lettering. With the sunshine piece tried to mimic the sun... Since Betty Locke challenged us to use a "B" nib, they've still been laying on my desk and I'm enjoying using them. Who woulda thunk...I've never liked them before. It was interesting to use gouache and dropping in color in each letter. It doesn't move the same way watercolors move.

Wk 7 - Love Songs - At Last MyLove

 

I decided to do a 2nd piece for this week's Scribbled Lives 2020 Facebook Challenge... I've been playing around with my Automatic pens and wondered what the one with the widest separation would look like with hearts in the negative space... I really liked the look so hunted for a song to fit my needs. Used a little Foundational hand this time for the lyrics.
