AofF_Isosceles Triangle Book - Play Is Therapy

size closed: Triangles - 3.5" x 4"h
Our AofF for June had one thought being an Isosceles triangle project... but then they decided something else... but my head was already in the isosceles mode...

We were to take a square piece of paper and divide it in half both ways and half again and trim off the excess to create perfect isosceles triangles. I did a 2nd piece and adhered them together at their edges...

I then created another one slightly smaller from Genoa Bond paper. Then I cut smaller triangles from marbled paper I created eons ago and adhered them to the Genoa paper

The whole thing folds up into a neat triangle with a little paper band to keep it closed

Then cut out letters from misc black paper to spell out "Play Is Therapy

Funky Card - Life (Art Of The Fold)

Size: 6.5"w x 8"h
This is a weird evolved card - bottom image... it started out with the left (top to bottom) piece which was homework for our next Art Of The Fold meeting using double tab accordion. Then I played with one with single tabs (which I like better), both using my geli print paper.

I had set it aside to work on this other structure that sounded interesting... the blue square section which had interlocking and cut sections. I had adhered it to the orangey piece and then said it would make an interesting card... Then I needed something more for the inside, I used my Art Of The Fold homework pieces.

But of course it didn't stand so had to put the bottom frame on it... and a card is nothing without some calligraphy so added the quote with a black ZIG Calligraphy pen and then added the white highlight using a Gelly Roll 08 pen.

Since I had the inside done I needed something for the front... So tore apart and adhered the marbled rice paper piece from eons ago. I had adhered only the right section, but I had a leftover piece so added it to the other side of the front and wrote in the letters for LIFE with the other end on the calligraphy pen.

I don't know when I had such a convoluted way of making a card...

Pop Up Tunnel - Abstract - Just For You

size closed: 4.5"w x 6.5"h
mechanism: 3"w x 4"h (closed)
opens to 3"w x 2"h x 2.25"dp approx with 4 windows plus the door.

Mary one of our Art Of The Fold members showed us a video clip from Kit Davey with this finished structure... no details... After doing the 1st one I thought to make the mechanism  a bit wider..

A circle at the top to keeps the mechanism closed.

Basic white card base (9"w x 6.5"h) folded in half, black cardstock then a layer of a background on w/c paper I created a long time ago...

Created the mechanism basic shape from black cardstock 6.75" x 3" scored at 1/2"+ 2 1/8"+ 2"+ 2 1/8" with a 1/2" end to glue to create the box.

Cut the front window in the main structure before gluing.

For these dimensions cut 3 more widows  3"w x 2.5"h. Note: the 3.5" h section is scored 1/2" on top an bottom to glue to the mechanism after windows are cut out.. Glue to basic box. Add images either before or after gluing, I did it after...

I glued one of the images over the whole back area instead of using a window.

Glue half a circle to the card to keep the mechanism closed.

Pop Up Tunnel - BFlys - Dream On

size closed: 4.5"w x 6.5"h
mechanism: 2.5"w x 4"h (closed)
opens to 2.5"w x 2"h x 2"dp approx with 5 windows plus the door.

Mary one of our Art Of The Fold members showed us a video clip from Kit Davey with this finished structure... no details... I looked at it and said OK... Next thing I new I was creating one with my made up dimensions... as you can see it worked... so I'll show it at our next meet (Feb 2026). raided my Joanna Sheen artwork pads (I have several with different themes...) and cut and spliced.

A circle at the top to keep the mechanism closed.

Basic white card base (9"w x 6.5"h) folded in half, covered with one of my marbled papers from eons ago...

Created the mechanism basic shape 8.5" x 2.5" scored at 2", 4", 6", 8" with a 1/2" end to glue to create the box.

Cut the windows in the main structure before gluing.

For these dimensions cut 3 more widows  2"w x 3"h. Note: the 3" h section is scored 1/2" on either end to glue to the mechanism after windows are cut out.. Glue to basic box. Add images either before or after gluing, I did it after...

Glue half a circle to the card to keep the mechanism closed.

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2016/MCJuly16_EaselSunriseLily_ECDHappyBirthday_FriendshipIsn'tABigThing.html
I was in a mood to play with the Sunrise Lily flowers from Heartfelt Creations... (stamp & die set) The flowers on the front are very 3D, standing over 1/2" h... the ones on the floor are a lot less high and can almost lay flat. Love the way it turned out. The purple front piece uses one of Tim's techniques that I really love doing "Faux Marble" using acrylic daubers including Picket Fence.

Anyway you can see all the details and descriptions by clicking on any card image. Enjoy

Thanks & Sept Mingle

It was an extremely busy day today. I had a lot I wanted to make and FINISH, which I did. Last day of the long weekend and very nice weather outside.

I made 2 more Thank you cards, with envies as well as my September Mingle page for my ByHand Group a "This & That Mingle". I choose Chinese Kite Festival. There were so many good themes to choose from, and until today I had no idea what I wanted to do. But I read the list again this morning, and the Kites just jumped out at me. I googled it and saw a lot of beautiful kites. The colors spoke to me. I've put links to each individual page, just click the photo you want more info on. There are lots of detail pics and instructions.

After our marbling session on July 20th, we decided to make each of us a gift using the marbled papers. Well I just finished mine and very happy with the results. Thanks to Darla for directing me to a very nice site where I got my inspiration for my flaps (http://www.amstamps.com/geotut/ ) . Below are the 3 gifts I made and by clicking on the first one, you will go to my main website for detailed images, descriptions and the envelopes I made for them.

Marbling Day

Three of my friends came over yesterday and we had an absolutely marvelous time marbling. The day was perfect, sun with a bit of clouds, no wind to speak of till later in the day. We started at around 10:30am and finished our first batch of size at around 12:30, so I made another batch to set while we ate lunch. I had made a Tiramisu (one of my favorite desserts). They loved it. After lunch we got back to another couple hours of marbling. We were very productive. I ended up with 24 pages and some silk. Fran brought over some silk pieces (she does silk paint and sells the supplies), and Sharon brought over some cotton, so besides our paper we had some nice extras. I had made all kinds of rakes and combs using toothpicks, finishing nails and popsicle sticks They were also spaced in various sizes from 1/4" to 1 1/2" apart. I had also hot glued them so they were water proof.
Our next venture will be paste Paper over at Fran's place. Looking forward to that. We're still figuring out the logistics of when we can all get together.
