MC Jan/16 - Tim's Tags - ECD Live - Time Waits For No One

Well I think I'm starting the year off well... and finally doing one of Tim's tag challenges. It's been a while...

It's so rare I work with black cardstock, so right off the bat he got my juices going.

I die cut the black tag (Sizzix Tim's "Tag & Bookplate").

Applied some aluminum duct tape to thin white cardstock, embossed with Sizzix "Pocket Watches" embossing folder. Painted all over with Distress acrylic daubers "Black Soot", then some "Walnut Stain"  and a bit more of the black, drying between layers, then sanding the high points. Adhered to tag.

Die cut the gears (Sizzix Tim's on the Edge "Gears") from black cardstock. Painted with the black and brown and added some "Copper". Adhered to edge of tag.

Stamped the watch with rose (Stamp It Australia "Rose Clock") using Versafine Black Onyx on white cardstock and clear embossed. Fussy cut around and colored with Prisma colored pencils, Adhered off the edge of the tag.

Die cut the Elizabeth Craft Designs word "Live" (also available on Quietfire Design HERE) from black and white cardstock. Swiped some "Picket Fence" over the black in a streaky fashion to mimic blackboard effect. Adhered it to the white die cut, off set, then on to the tag. Added the word "now" using a pointed nib and a mix of Copic White Opaque and H2º.

Swiped over the oval frame (part of the bookplate die) with the picket fence and wrote my words on the oval drop out "Time waits for no one" and doodled some dots. Adhered to tag and adhered the frame using 3D foam tape, adding two pewter colored screw brads.

Final touch added the black/silver Sari ribbon bow.

MC Dec/15 - Quill - ECD Happy Birthday - Just For You

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2015/MCDec15_Quill_ECDHappyBirthday_JustForYou.html
Thought I was using one of the newest Elizabeth Craft Designs dies and realized as I was writing my blurb it was the earlier released die. Sheesh. Back to the drawing board...

But I am really happy with the results. I'm using a bunch of scraps and stuff from my bins. Loving the curvy leaf background which was the negative of the leaves done on Color Burst decorated watercolor paper and looked so pretty when I was finished with it I didn't have the heart to throw it away. Also using a bunch of quilled elements from previous sessions. And I had opened one of my ribbon drawers and there was that little piece of webbed ribbon ...

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2015/MCDec15_Quill_ECDHappyBirthday_JustForYou.htmlAnd the "Happy Birthday" is a top and bottom off the edge die cutting technique explained on my website. Yes you could die cut the word and just glue the edges to a couple borders... There is always more than one way to do things...

Anyway, just click on any card image to see all the details and descriptions and lots more views.

MC May/15 - Marcel Jalopy - Roadster - HB - May Your Day

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2015/MCMay15_MarcelJalopy_Roadster_HB_MayYourDay.html
It's my uncle's birthday in a few weeks, so figured I'd better get a card made... and since I just got the Roadster die from Frantic Stamper, thought I'd incorporate that too, and came across a pinterest pic of embossed metal colored with a "colored wax" product and decided to do something similar using metallic Rub-ons. It all came together nicely. I'm pleased with the results.

Anyway you can see all the details and descriptions and more views by clicking on any card image. Enjoy

I'm using sentiment and an altered quote (part of one and part of another - BIG GRIN) from Quietfire Design.

MC Dec/14 - Metal Lantern - Life is a Pure Flame - HB

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2014/MCDec14_MetalLantern_LifeIsAPureFlame_HB.htmlOne of my DT friends asked if I had ever cut metal with my Silhouette Cameo... I said no. So immediately set about trying it... and even though it cut quite well, it ruined my blade, so it is not something I will be trying again any time soon. Waaay too expensive..

And recently I bought some cork sheets (DCWV) and decided to use some. And then there is this Spellbinders die I used for the edging - bought at the beginning of 2012... So I have something new and something old BIG GRIN

The candles were colored with Prisma colored pencils and then glittered.

http://yogiemp.com/HP_cards/MiscChallenges/MiscChallenges2014/MCDec14_MetalLantern_LifeIsAPureFlame_HB.htmlAnyway, you can see all the details and descriptions etc by clicking on any card image. Enjoy

MC Sept/14 - Jingle Bells - My Idea of a Perfect Christmas

I picked up this embossing folder by Sheena Douglas and love it as a background. So of course had to make an Xmas card with it. ROFL.

I side folded my white card (5"w x 7"h).

Inked up the embossing folder with a Distress mini pad (nice and juicy) "Mowed Lawn", then colored the berries with a Distress Marker "Barn Door", misted with water and inserted my white cardstock in to the un-inked side, then closed to folder and ran through my machine (my newest gadget a Cheery Lynn Crossover machine - love it...). Trimmed down and layered it on to a dark green textured cardstock. Trimmed that down using my layering ruler at 1/8" and adhered them to the card front. Added a bit of Quickie Glue to the berries and sprinkled with Glitter Ritz micro fine glitter Regal Red".

Placed a piece of aluminum tape onto a piece of cardstock and die cut using Memory Box "Jingle Bells" a couple times. Adhered to card with white glue.

Stamped the quote (Quietfire Design "My Idea...") using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Die cut with Spellbinders circle set and sponged edges with Distress "Barn Door". Adhered to card. Die cut the ornament attachment using Sizzix "Carved Ornament" die set and a scrap of the aluminum cardstock. Distressed the hanger and colored with a black Lumocolor marker and wiped off the excess. Adhered to ornament on card.

Punched out some pine branches (McGill punch) from some green decorated cardstock, then hit the punched elements with Distress "Pine Needles". Adhered to ornament. Adhered some narrow red ribbon and added a bow.

Click on card image to enlarge. Enjoy

Tims Tags 2011 - Day 9 - Tweet

Only 3 days left of Tim's tags. sigh!! I'm sure myself and others feel the same way - we'll hate it when it ends... But alas all good things must end.

So although I do some of the background technique that Tim's using today, I do it with embossing folders, and Tim has gone a step further - of course.

Inked up my stamp (Impression Obsession CAC Holly) with Distress Evergreen Bough and stamped onto my manilla die cut tag, clear embossed. Sponged Festive Berries all over and sprinkled with clear embossing powder and tapped of a lot of excess powder and brushed a little off as well, clear embossed. Now because of the tapping off and brushing some off, there is little to no embossing in areas for the next step to be effective. Sponged Gathered Twigs heavily onto tag. ( did a 2nd tag using more of Ted's color scheme and the background came out much better (practice make perfect).

Inked direct to paper with the twigs pad onto white cardstock and embossed with Distress "Old Paper" and "Vintage Photo" giving a more twig color look. Die cut with Tim's "Branch Tree". Brushed off excess powder. Added Aleenes "True Snow" and sprinkled with Ritz micro fine glitter "Warm Highlights". Set aside to dry.

Die cut the small bird (Spellbinders "Bird Sanctuary") from white cardstock. Inked up a bird stamp (Martha Stewart wood mounted 2 bird set) with Tombow markers, misted with water and stamped on bird die cut (it fit almost perfectly), then moved the color around a bit with my waterbrush.

Used my electronic cutter to cut out the birdcage twice, then adhered the two together to give a thicker profile. Applied Versafine Black Onyx all over and embossed with Rustique Antique Jade and Marcasite embossing powders. Also cut out the word "Tweet" using the George Basics cartridge, applying Viva Perlen Pen "Lemon" all over the letters then sprinkling with Pro Art Glitter "Crystal".

Direct to paper with the Evergreen Bough over white cardstock, then added Pine Needle and a touch of Gathered Twigs. Misted with water, dried, misted with Perfect Pearls "Sunflower Sparkle", dried, punched out with the larger of the Punch Bunch Holly" punches. Also cut some out with my electronic cutter.

Die cut the flourish (Spellbinders "Floral Flourishes"), inked with the Black Onyx and embossed with black embossing powder, then coated with Glossy Accents.

Die cut the smallest Heirloom Ornament (Spellbinders) from copper tape (Lee Valley slug tape), embossed them with the Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots" folder, scored down the middles, folded them, removed the liner and adhered them, half of one side to half of another side. Added a gold thread string for hanging and adhered the last ornament. I now have a 3D hanging ornament.

The last item was the little tag on the top left side. Wrote in my words on a piece of translucent vellum, punched out with a large punch, scalloped the corners with a hole punch, colored the edges with a red Zig Writer. Attached to card with the mini attacher including a few strands of the gold thread.

Pop dotted the tree branch and adhered everything else, adding some red half pearls on the holly and one in the birds mouth. Tied a gold cord for hanging. added a piece of the vellum behind the birdcage, I found it too bare without it.

It's another tag I'm happy with Tweet, tweet!!
