My turn for the Scribbled Lives theme...

Created my project on w/c Canal Paper St Armand.
Wet the paper and dropped in Yasutomo Vermillion ink, then blotted up some of the really wet spots. Drew out the letters then outlined with a Juice Up pen. Shadowed with a Sharpie then added the white with Bleed Proof white and a pointed Zebra nib.

Scribbled Lives 2021 - Wk 20 - Nature Tools - Carrot

Scribbled Lives 2021 - Wk 20 - Nature Tools - Carrot. This not a favorite theme.

I tried a couple plant things and said Uck!!. Then I thought of the carrots that are languishing in my vegetable bin in the fridge. I checked them out, but none were worthy of using for this theme, so I made a cream of carrot soup instead. Added a couple potatoes since I didn't have enough carrots...YUM!! I added some maple syrup to it as well. Will do that again.

Anyway, placed an online grocery order including CARROTS... so voila! I used an unknown brand of linen textured cardstock. Black ad Vermillion Sumi ink.

Quote: My heart says cheese dip. but my jeAns say, Good God woman, EAT SOME CARROTS!

I'm still practicing my Italic and flourishing and a friend sent me a bunch of aphorisms and I got inspired... I've also wanted to do a large and small lettering in different colors, so a lot of different practice techniques. BIG GRIN

Scribbled Lives - Wk 1 - New Year with no images...

The Edmonton Calligraphy Society had Leslie Winakur give a lecture on the history of Illuminated letters and then a brief demonstration. So thought I'd use a bit of what I learned... 

On 110# Staples white cardstock drew my letter then inked with Kuretake Vermilion Sumi ink. Doodled with Holbien Prussian Blue gouache sprinkled with Neuberg Ebel fine silver powder. Filled is some of the areas with Kurtetake Silver Mica ink. For the text I sprinkled the Prussian blue with Schmincke gold powder.

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 41 - Shel Silverstein - Runny Babbit Returns

Scribbled Lives 2020 - Wk 41 - Shel Silverstein is this weeks theme... He has some fun quotes/poems. This one is kind of long for me. I usually prefer doing shorter quotes and stuff... I tried doing it with various nibs in various styles of lettering and on various hand made backgrounds. Ugh to all of them. I finally just went on plain cardstock, my small B-5 nib and Vermillion Sumi ink in my funky monoline stle lettering. I'm content... Added the spider web and spider being it's close to Halloween I thought it was appropriate. BIG GRIN.
