Black White - Each Of Us

size: 7"w x 6"h
I came across a painted letter E on this Canson Mixed Media paper. I don't know when I did it or what color I used... so went over it with a black Zig Calligraphy pen to straighten out the lines and make it more presentable... Then looked at it trying to come up with a word to go with the "E" - and this evolved. Looking at it I realized I didn't use the same lettering style for the rest of the "Each" word... c'est la vie continued it anyway. Used a Juice Up pen for the skinny parts. A ZIG Writer and Pentel Brush pen for the thicker areas and the Zig Calligraphy pen for the other areas. A Caran d'Ache pencil for shading and paper stump.

Geli Print - Floral Doodle - Think Positive

I pulled out one of my geli prints I didn't like very much and decided to play with it... and this just evolved...
size: 6.5"w x 7"h
Done on LBS End paper created the floral design using a ZiG Writer, a Pentel Pocket Brush, Uniball white gel pen. For the lettering Bleed Proof white and Zebra nib shadowing with a black Juice Up pen.

PS the date looks like 24 but is 25 with some part didn't scan right...

Painted Squares - Being A Square

On Canson Mixed Media paper created the squares design using a Zig Writer. Painted with various Brush Paint pens and some regular watercolors. Added the text with a Uniball white gel pen and the Zig Writer.

Relax & Stay A Bit

There's usually something on Instagram that sparks me at just the right moment and I'm off on a tangent. A friend dropped by and the words just popped into my head... and then it just evolved.
size: 4"sq
On Strathmore 140# w/c paper created my main words using Koi Colouring Brush pens and a wet paint brush. Then added the "relax and" using a Juice Up pen. White Gelly Roll for the highlights. Graphite and paper stump shading.

Pentel Color Brush - Great Ideas

I was at our Guild's play day on Saturday and one of my friends who is a fabulous calligrapher demo'd using a Pentel Color Brush pen. I bought all the colors waaaay back when they 1st came out. I haven't really used them in quite a while even though they're in my cubby holes on my desk...

So on Canson Pro Layout Marker paper using a different color for each word, wrote out my thoughts... I heat set the ink since it smudges really easily on this paper...Shadowed with a Caran d'Ache Grafwood 3B pencil and paper stump.
colors: light green, red, orange, pink, turquoise, olive green

Mandatory - Optional

Came across this in my list of things I wanted to write...

size: 8.5"w x 5.5"h
On Canson Mixed Media paper, sprinkling with Brusho powders (Yellow, Brilliant Red, Ost Blue) and using an empty 6.0Parallel Pen dipped in water, wrote out the main words. With a medium tip calligraphy brush pen wrote out the balance of the text.

Words: growing old is MANDATORY
growing up is OPTIONAL

I was reading an Amish love story and came across this Bible verse and it just resonated with me... and this lettering style landed in my Pinterest feed which I really liked (sorry no name given).

Size: 10"w x 8.5"h
On Canson Mi-Teintes paper , using a medium Brush Calligraphy pen, then highlighted with a white Juice Up pen.

Words: Ask, and it shall be given to you; Seek, and ye shall find; Knock. and it shall be opened unto you; Matthew 7:7-8

Scribbled Lives 2023 - Wk 36 - Brush - Every Artist

Somethings wrong with my website - sigh. I can't seem to access it... I hope it's just a weather or simple glitch that will right itself soon...

Another week of Scribbled Lives this time the challenge is using a Brush... so I pulled out a couple of my Rosemary & Co triangle brushes.

Size: 6"w x 7"h
On Fabriano 1264 Mixed Media paper.

Sprinkled yellow and red Bister powder over paper and using a med size Rosemary & Co triangle brush dipped into water created the flowers. Dried. Removed excess powder and sprinkled with yellow and green for the leaves.

Used calligraphy brush pens (2 med sizes) to stipple the flower centers and write the text.
