ECS Env Exchange - May 2025 - Donna Bereska

I used a piece of Edge Mixed Media heavy paper for both the env and card trying out different powders to create her name done in Lisa Engelbrechts funky lettering style. For the envelope I used Bister powders (Yellow, Red and Blue), a 3.0 Parallel pen dipped in water and when dry, shadowed with a Juice Up pen. Adhered the artwork to a plain envelope and added a geli print border.

For the card (7"w x 5"h) I used Brusho Powders (yellow , red & ost Blue) and shadowed with a Caran d'Ache B pencil and paper stump. Mounted on a yellow cardstock card base.

Uncial - Abracadabra & ABCDE

On Canson Pro Marker paper was playing with the word "Abracadabra" in various size nibs (2.4 & 3.8) and then one in a different Ecoline ink for each letter...

Uncials - The Impossible - Ghandi

size: 6.5"w x 4"h
Thought I'd try out a quote. A 2.4 parallel pen and a crazy brownish mix.
I goofed a word... and camouflaged it with those big black boxes... then wrote the author into one of them. (problem fixed...)

Yes & Maybe

At my recent BVCG Play Day I created these 2 pieces playing with my Copic Marker.
size: 9"w x 7"h (both approx)
YES: On Genoa Bond Calligraphy Paper double dipped my wide Copic marker into a blue and magenta gouache and wrote out the letters for "yes" in a funky style. Shadowed the right edge with a Caran d'Ache B pencil and paper stump. Added the text with the smaller tip of a Zig Calligraphy pen.
words: Yes is a positive word.

MAYBE: same as "YES" except for using 3 colors (olive green, Magenta and Gold). Shadowed with the Zig Writer. Same text style.
words: Maybe or maybe not.

Funky Uncial, Yes, No

I'm taking a 2 day class with Barb Fuller (a BVCG Guild Member) in Uncials. It's one of my favorite hands... but does take up a lot of room especially since I don't like using small nibs...
On Canson Pro Marker paper.
The Uncial word was written with a 3.8 and a 2.4 empty Parallel pen using a crazy mix of Ecoline ink I had in a jar (the brownish color) and a reddish. Graphite shadowing.
The Yes and No  were also done with some crazy mixes... shadowed and doodled with a white or gold gel pen.

1: Copic wide 1st double dipping into 2 colors. When dry outlined with a med blue Juice up pen.
2: Pointed pen, Zebra nib into Kuretake Gold Mica ink.
3: Blue Parallel pen into the darkest of the 4 colors I had mixed.
4: Zig Writer in the multi colored work in one of Violet Smythe's funky styles and painted with the gouache.
5: Pointed pen in Dot Lettering as taught by Mina Taylor and dots created with the embossing tool into the rusty orange gouache.

On Canson Mixed Media paper sprinkled with Bister powders (yellow, red & blue). Used a 2.4 Parallel pen dipped in water to activate the powder. When dry outlined the rectangular shapes with a Juice Up pen.

Image is superimposed on a bunch of guidelines I've made. I don't normally put guidelines onto my good paper. I use an (A5 I-Pad) light box. actually I have 4 light box/pads of different sizes... but love the A5 one the best
