MC Apr/14 - w/c Thank You

I've signed up for Jennifer McGuire's online watercolors for card makers class. I keep putting my watercolors aside even though I know how to use them and love using them, so I figured taking the class will maybe get me in the habit again of using them more often. We can only hope...

So because of that, I decided to use their title sample as a starting point and created the thank you card. Love the way it turned out. Simple, colorful and spring like.

I used 90# watercolor paper from a cheapie w/c pad. The thank you is an eCut file from Quietfire Design and can be found here on the Silhouette online store. I enlarged it to approx 4.5"w, cut it out and then used it as a stencil and traced around it with a light pencil mark, then watercolored around the letters using a lot of water to merge and bleed my colors. Trimmed it down and adhered to a basic white card front (5.5"w x 4.25"h)

I had these black photo corners which I got from Scrapbook adhesives a while back. I inked the corner (protecting the rest of the sticker) with Versamark and embossed with Queen's Gold, then attached to my watercolor piece.

Stamped the oval "thank you" sentiment (Quietfire Design) using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.

And that's it.  Click on the card image to enlarge. Enjoy

And it fits for these challenges:
Craftitude Challenge  #63 anything goes
TTCRD  #22 - 28  anything goes
Scrap Creations  anything goes
FatTastic Tuesday  #32 anything goes
City Crafter  #208 painted background
The Pink Elehant Challenge  #247 use watercolors

Nice card. I signed up for the class too, and some of the info in the pre-videos hasn't thrilled me. I was surprised to see them putting dirty water into their pan colors. I was taught from day one to always have two water cups- one clean and one dirty.
another video called gouache an acrylic paint that is like water color. Hmmm. anyway, I hope it is inspiring as watercoloring always makes me happy!

The watercolour effect is gorgeous. Love how the white letters stand out next to the colour. The gold corners are a lovely detail. Thanks so much for joining our Anything Goes/Spring or Easter Challenge at Craftitude this fortnight. I hope we see you again soon.
